The Avanti Press Production Manager is a creative thinker with a passion for paper, print processes, and deadlines. This is a highly collaborative position that will work closely with the Director, Creative Services, Vice President of Product as well as the President of the company who is passionate about all things print. This role is headquartered in Detroit and interacts with coworkers at multiple locations. The Production Manager may have occasional travel requirements to work with out of state manufacturers on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the creative team to develop production strategies for new print projects.
- Manage the bidding and negotiation across various vendors and suppliers that execute print jobs for all product formats, direct mail, seasonal promotions, sales collateral, and any other printed media.
- Oversee all production priorities, schedules, and budgets as well as the development, approval, and quality assurance processes for artwork, new formats, mock-ups, and proofs.
- Lead production research and development to assess new vendors, techniques, materials, and formats.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in the print industry and solid understanding of the print process from start to finish.
- Ability to “talk shop” with vendors and have a deep understanding of all suppliers’ capabilities and equipment.
- Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
- A keen eye for color
- Up to date knowledge of the latest technologies and developing print trends.
The Production Manager reports to the Director of Creative Services and has two direct reports:
- Color Specialist
- Production Coordinator
